Para todos los lideres y ejecutivos que quieren trabajar para un mundo mejor pero no saben bien cómo, acá les compartimos los principales puntos que deben conocer sobre la sostenibilidad para que así vean que es un camino largo pero con mucho valor, no es caro y las ganancias materiales e inmateriales son altísimas.
1.Sostenibilidad es generación de valor.
La sostenibilidad es ver de qué manera podemos generar valor en cada persona, en cada área, en cada región y en cada país donde nuestro negocio tenga presencia.
Se trata de ver cómo usamos mejor nuestros recursos, haciendo que se tenga un menor impacto negativo en el entorno, y se logren ganancias sociales y económicas para más personas.
La sostenibilidad no es una moda, es una forma de hacer negocios con estrategia y empatía, siempre pensando en el corto y largo plazo.
2. La sostenibilidad exige toma de decisiones de alta gerencia, sino no avanza.
Sostenibilidad sin compromiso es una ilusión. No habrán personas y procesos sostenibles si los altos mandos no se comprometen a que la organización vaya en esa línea.
No solo es cuestión de hacer unas políticas y mandarlas por correo. Es darle tiempo y presupuesto a los cambios que van a ser requeridos para tener un “nuevo negocio”.
3.Sostenibilidad siempre debe ir de la mano con innovación.
Ya no se pueden pensar en productos o servicios innovadores que no piensen en los impactos que causan en el medio ambiente y en la sociedad. Por eso, el área de sostenibilidad e innovación deben trabajar juntas en diseñar nuevas propuestas que sean comercialmente viables, pero también socio ambientalmente amigables.
4. Sostenibilidad , gestión ambiental y ESG no son la misma cosa.
La sostenibilidad está más enfocado a la estrategia empresarial. La gestión ambiental está enfocada al uso de recursos y monitoreo del impacto de las actividades del negocio en el medio ambiente. Y ESG son un conjunto de normas que los inversores socialmente responsables utilizan para evaluar una empresa basándose en tres criterios principales: medioambiental, social y de gobierno corporativo.
5.Cumplir las normativas no es sostenibilidad, es cumplir las obligaciones.
Lo mínimo que podemos hacer es cumplir con lo que nos toca, por ello, no podemos mostrar como logro lo que es obligación.
Si caemos en ello, estamos de alguna manera haciendo greenwashing.
6.La sostenibilidad es trasversal a todas las áreas.
La sostenibilidad debe tener influencia y relación con todas las áreas. Lo que hay que tener en cuenta es que cada área tiene impactos diferentes, por lo que el trabajo debe ser diferenciado para cada una.
El gerente de la empresa o líder de sostenibilidad debe ser capaz de articular las actividades y hacer que estas caminen hacia los objetivos de la organización.
7. La sostenibilidad se ve en la diversidad y la inclusión.
No se puede tener una organización sostenible si no se tiene la apertura para escuchar e integrar a personas con diferentes orígenes sociales y académicos, con alguna enfermedad o condición, con diferentes opiniones, con diferentes formas de ser y expresarse.
En el marco del respeto al otro, debemos de tener organizaciones que apoyan a sus colaboradores y tratan de que crezcan a medida que van desarrollando sus talentos.
8.La sostenibilidad no es cara.
Pensar en sostenibilidad es pensar en cómo ser más eficientes con nuestros recursos en nuestros procesos productivos y en la organización misma.
Cuando se hacen diagnósticos de sostenibilidad es justamente para ver donde se puede mejor el uso de los recursos, para así prevenir o revertir el desperdicio que se tenga, además de poder pensar en nuevas formas de usar lo que tengamos ahora.
9.Cada vez es más fácil identificar si una empresa hace greenwashing
El Greenwashing o “maquillaje verde” ha ido creciendo a medida que la demanda de los consumidores de productos y servicios más sostenibles crece cada día más.
Muchas empresas quieren aprovechar esta tendencia sin cambiar nada dentro de su organización; sin embargo, corren el riesgo de que los consumidores se den cuente y sea totalmente contraproducente para su reputación.
10. Muchas empresas tienen procesos sostenibles, y no lo saben.
Muchas empresas (sean grandes, medianas o pequeñas) a veces ya tienen prácticas sostenibles, pero no las valorizan porque no saben que ya lo están haciendo. Esto muchas veces se debe porque las áreas no saben cómo identificar la sostenibilidad en los procesos que cada una realiza, y esto hace que no lo comuniquen.
